33bits is the core tech behind the anonymous zk-based Warpcast account. Built with the intention to provoke open dialogues and explore how the Farcaster community will use or abuse their privacy; anyone can post on that account without revealing their identity.
A timeline
- 33bits released the zk-messaging tech in 2023
- in Nov 2024, Anon used this tech and linked a token utility to it; require x amount of $ANON to be able to post via the Anon WC account; the token hit a $60m MC*
- Next, 33bits gets a $33bits token and "hacks" the Anon requirements; allow the first 20k Farcaster profiles to post on Anon without holding ANON.
- 33bits devs decided to create the 66bits Farcaster account to explore experiments and improve social interactions; a playground to try new ideas and fewer strict rules than 33bits. Successful 66bits experiments will be added to 33bits to enhance the protocol.
- The coming time, 66bits will be used to explore new social interactions, implement more advanced technology, and experiment with financial incentives; e.g. hold at least 50k of $33bits to be able to post.

So why did the $33bits price dump?
Ofcourse people started using AI agents to create fake "$66bits" tokens (9), confusing holders who thought the devs abandoned the $33bits token.
Result: Market cap dropped from $3m to currently $600k. Sad, but a big opportunity since the true brains behind the ZK tech are cooking.
They are also followed or supported by key industry builders like Jesse (Base king), Jack (founder BaseName), Dan (co-founder metamask), Mike (co-founder Rainbow) and other less known builders.
