@HistoryUnter The @CWGC Cemetery at Brouay is the original #53Div #Welsh Divisional Cemetery. Pity I'm not over, as I've got info on almost ever cas suffered by the Div in Normandy.

Hill 112 was THE key #battle that decided the course of the #Normandy campaign. A true meatgrinder which held and wore out the #Panzer Divisions and #Panzergruppe West until they withdrew on 3/4 August, for the Hill to be taken by #53Div #Welsh on 4 Aug. #WW2 #history #Hill112 https://t.co/5OYQIKCqFH

One of my favourite images of 2 #Mons #53Div, hinting at the dynamic role that the Carrier Platoon often undertook as dismounted heavy infantry. These small tankettes were invaluable assets, capable of almost any role - from recce all the way to casevac. #WW2 #History #OTD https://t.co/PmfexCN6RM

A #53Div vet I interviewed was going with his mate to the Rex that day, however they were waylaid and went to a bar instead. This simple decision no doubt saved their lives. #WW2 https://t.co/yuNGCKqqtN

While 6th #Airborne got high priority for specialist #winter gear, 53rd #Welsh Division got... fuck all. So men looted bed sheets, fur coats, knitted gloves, whatever they could. 30 tons of kit eventually arrived. After the #Ardennes campaign had finished. #gofigure #53Div #WW2 https://t.co/M8jGFtfnrO
