Has anyone ever got a question at an academic talk that was so good that you still think about it long after the panel is done? Because @havingfung asked a question at #AFSam18 and three days later Brandon and I diagrammed our answer on the whiteboard in his office
Returned today from #afsam18, which was wonderful. I am in no way ready to get up tomorrow, shower, dress, apply makeup, wake up children, fix lunches, make breakfasts, push kids out the door on time, leap in the car, drive for 50-75 minutes to get to work, and start teaching.
~11 hours in the car later, I'm home from #AFSAM18 . So thrilled to be in my own bed--the hotel ones were kind of awful! I've got a ton of work to do in the next <48 hours, but it'll get done!
#AFSAM18 end travels. Roaming around the Detroit airport like a nomad because of a long layover. There’s Folklore to study there...long layover stories. 😉 It was an amazing conference. I love my Folklore peeps.
Took part in "Culture through Comics: An Ethnographic Cartooning Workshop" at the American Folklore Society conference in Buffalo, led by Marek Bennett and Andy Kolovos. Working on an 8-page mini-comic based on a story from @vermontfolklife! #AFSam18
Also, one of the lovely university press editors at #AFSAM18 miiight have planted an idea in my head about editing a collection of essays that I would actually be the perfect person to do even though I remain ambivalent about academic publishing...
