This case series from our lab illustrates the concept of Acute Mechano-Cardiac Coronary Artery Disruption described earlier by @rajivxgulati in 2024.
These cases demonstrate that in Takotsubo syndrome, extreme and opposing wall-motion abnormalities (dyskinesis adjacent to hyperkinesis) may generate a hinge-point distortion of the coronary arteries, resulting in vessel disruption and a mechanically driven, “non-spontaneous” coronary artery dissection.
