My stand on #genetherapy for #SickleCell. My argument is #genetherapy is feasible for children and adults with #SCD and highly palliative resulting in marked decrease if symptoms BUT isn’t yet curative. However, it will be and my argument won the day. #ascat22 4/4 #greatdebate
The debate started strong- Dr. Ware regaling us with his mentors accomplishment (no doubt we stand on #shouldersofgiants) & discussing the benefits of #hydroxyurea for #SickleCell all of which are TRUE but a medicine you take daily forever doesn’t mean cure 2/4 #ascat22

#ascat22 the importance of #exercise in #sicklecelldisease. I love this title. From prohibition to prescription. Yes-people with #scd can exercise and it is healthy. In our clinical program we say, #themoreyoumovethemoreyoumove @innovhem
#ascat22 already amazing! Universal antenatal screening for #sicklecell. 🤯 and newborn screening done on day 5 at home!!!! Rethinking #newbornscreening. @APHL we have more research to do to compare outcomes and completeness.
