#ASTR18 may not have gone as planned, but at least we have this sweet video of our 17 new theater books (plus a coupon) to make up for it! #ASTR @PhilAuslander @WatkinsDiary @GinaBloom5 @ProfAECook @debra_caplan @aehny @ElizabethWSon #ReadUP @ASTRGSC https://t.co/75qls99Z6r
Lisa S. Brenner and I are sad to miss folks at #ASTR18, but if you are presenting something suitable for THEATRE TOPICS, please consider submitting it to the journal.
Also just FYI, we're still taking applications for TT Co-Editor and Book Review Editor.
Theatre Topics seeks a Co-Editor & Book Review Editor.
The Co-Editor position ascends into the editor's role & is a four-year commitment. The work offers an annual $5,000 stipend as Co-Editor & a $10,000 stipend as editor.
The Book Review Editor position is a two-year term.

@kallewesterling @KatieSchaag @janetwerther @JoshAbrams @ASTRtweets Well given the circumstances I am not sure what the organisers want to call it, have they or ASTR tweeted? So many people won’t be going but may want to follow #astr18 #astr2018 (I vote for the shorter!)
@kallewesterling @jparkerstarbuck @janetwerther @JoshAbrams @ASTRtweets I agree! At the end of #astr17 people were mentioning #astr18, but in the last couple weeks I've only seen #astr2018. I know there are more important decisions being made right now, given the circumstances, but it would be good to consolidate the conversation sooner than later
@KatieSchaag @jparkerstarbuck @janetwerther @JoshAbrams @ASTRtweets I prefer #astr18 but these things need to be officially announced in programs, as I've been saying for years. 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
So we should probably decide between #ASTR2018 & #ASTR18. @kallewesterling what do you think? Last year you made a v. compelling case for 18 vs 2018 for brevity, but w/ 280 vs 140 characters is that less of a thing? @jparkerstarbuck @janetwerther @JoshAbrams @ASTRtweets thoughts?
I’m already overhearing solid reads and ASTR 2018 hasn’t even started. Today’s: “I don’t know how he writes about technology. He can’t even figure out how to use a Google Group.” #astr2018 #astr18 #overheardatastr
Hey ASTR attendees. Ginny Anderson & I have spent time looking at childcare options for members who have requested it. After reading references and speaking to the concierge, this is the best bet. https://t.co/kbqtNB9XCg
Hope that this is of use as you make plans to attend!
One of the things that surprised me most from the ASTR Mid-Year Meetings is that 40% of conference attendees over the past two years are grad students. I hope @ASTRGSC can really use its collective voice to shape the future of the profession and the conference.
Noe Montez discusses Indiana University’s recent decision to discontinue the PhD in Theatre and Drama program, and reflects on the value of PhD in theatre programs at public institutions.

Under the House’s tax bill, tuition waivers for grad students will be taxed. For example, M.I.T. grad students would be responsible for paying taxes on an $80,000 annual salary, when they only earn $33,000 a year. https://t.co/WRe8sn7nq4
