An article on my use of #3D scanning apps for studying #Neolithic structures. I like the rational observations of #AlfredWatkins who theorised that they were used as navigation markers in his 1925 book ‘The Old Straight Track’. #StandingStoneTuesday https://t.co/0nlEFDEJTT

@RobinEdgar @ziggydan1 @stonebothering #megalithic /#prehistory etc #archeology The #AlfredWatkins #Leyline has to be up there too, folk might #study /#research these & suddenly surprise themselves seeing exactly what they were up to🤯 ... It really is #astounding #fundamentalprinciples of the #MegalithicMovement

Done. Having dipped into this wonderful book for decades, I’ve now read it cover to cover. Not sure I’m totally convinced by ley theory, but it must truly be one of the great books about the #BritishIsles - fabulous stuff. #AlfredWatkins #TheOldStraightTrack #Herefordshire

Presumably someone has gone to the places illustrated in #TheOldStraightTrack by #AlfredWatkins and taken ‘now’ photos to show how the scene has changed (or not); and set up a website perhaps? Anyone?

Playing 🕵🏻‍♀️ I found a ref. to a ‘sign of an iron kettle' to include in my #map of #Ledbury but where did it hang? I looked photos of #AlfredWatkins (yes him!)& found one with the kettle 🤓 But had to check which building…found! ✅ Thanks to FrancisFrith #herefordshire

Anyone walking #OffasDyke between #Kington (in #Herefordshire) and #Knighton (in #Radnorshire, #Powys) will find themselves walking smack through the area that #AlfredWatkins -in his classic #TheOldStraightTrack 1925) - devotes the whole of Chapter 3 to: ‘Leys in Radnor Vale’.
