@racheldharris_ @KentondeJong We were lucky in Australia that the first cases didn't reach our shores until October 1918. Our quarantine system kept the pandemic out of the community until mid-January 1919. Although there were some cases into 1920, for us it was definitely a 1919 event! #AnIntimatePandemic

It's tricky to photograph a passage from a tightly bound book, but this is why we need our community historians. These words from 1919 voluntary aide Jean Curlews were located, transcribed and published by local historians. What evocative power! #AnIntimatePandemic @RAHS_News
