My fabulous new classroom is grades 2-5. They are not all speaking as their primary communication, but they can all speak. Age means much work needed on self-regulation. All suggestions and advice re: activities and engagement

@llamalovinteach @attentionfixed The look a child with ADHD has when I tell them I have ADHD (and I'm Autistic if it's related) and the difficulties I understand even if I internalised them earlier than most. But anger, emotional disregulation, distraction, sensory seeking, rejection sensitivity.... I get it.
This is definitely my goal for the 2022-23 school year.Educators give so much to their careers; for #AutisticEducators,this is particularly true: we are masking from ableist trauma, geared to monotropism so switching to the icky aspects of a job is hard, & oh the details we see!
I am hopeful that Anti-Ableism was included in the dialogue? The #CRPD which was ratified over a decade ago in Canada still seems to be virtually invisible in the Educational sector. #RepresentationMatters #AutisticEducators #AutisticLeaders are needed in our schools

You said it! I literally LOL’d when I read this. This is why last night’s #TwitterSpace w/ @ExistentialAut1 & @Jodieinfinity, many #AutisticEducators, and Autistic survivors of school trauma was so important! We must #Listen to non-speakers & seek #ActuallyAutistic perspectives
If every major piece of work I'd done in my 40-year career had been comprehensively trashed by the people I purport to care about (*especially* considering the last few months), I like to think I would be humble enough to shut up & listen. Not broadcast more bad takes.
