Drivers from left have green light.
Drivers from right have red light.
Driver decides to casually ignore the red & roll almost a full speed right-on-red into oncoming traffic nearly causing a crash.
(sound on!)

My light was green for almost 5 seconds & I was mostly through the intersection when this teenager decided she was going to turn right on red into me, without glancing in my direction.

@JMBarten @IndyPedCrisis @AllisonLCarter Same thing on bikes. It doesn't happen nearly as much to me since they put up the No Right Turn on Red signs up and down Virginia Avenue. They work and it's an economical fix.
@IndyPedCrisis @FreemanForIndy the one time i got hit on my bike was someone turning right on red at fall creek and college. many close calls on the cultural trail on alabama (not a right on red, but a no turn on red).
@IndyPedCrisis @FreemanForIndy As a pedestrian, more close calls than I can count when crossing Alabama west to east at Ohio. As a cyclist, New York and State despite the protected lane.
@IndyPedCrisis @FreemanForIndy Last fall I had at least 2 incidents where I was almost hit by someone pulling out to turn right on red at College Ave & 30th, where the Fall Creek trail crosses 30th. Often drivers will creep out to see if they can turn & I slow down & wave until they see me.
@IndyPedCrisis @FreemanForIndy I can't remember the last time I was walking downtown and I DIDN'T have a car come within a foot of me turning on red through my crosswalk!
@AllisonLCarter @IndyPedCrisis As a bike commuter from Garfield Park to Downtown, literally every close call I've had in my life has been people doing a right turn on red.
@IndyPedCrisis @FreemanForIndy Daily occurrence to see crosswalks blocked around downtown because cars do not stop behind the stop line, instead pulling as far forward as they can to see if they can safely turn on red.
@IndyPedCrisis @FreemanForIndy Was bumped by a car at Georgia/Meridian who didn't even look my way at all as they looked from eastbound Georgia to Southbound Meridian to see if they could turn
@IndyPedCrisis @FreemanForIndy Almost got plastered last fall in a crosswalk with my kids at Capitol/South by a minivan blasting through the crosswalk on South looking up street to see if they could turn. Regularly see large construction trucks do it there too.

@inLIUofJOAN @311Somerville Maybe it's time for Somerville to follow Cambridge and #banrightonred city wide. Especially since it's not immediately obvious to non-residents which city an intersection is in. @311Somerville @SomervilleCity #camberville
When you turn right on green, you look right--in the direction of travel. When you turn right on red, you look left for an opening before briefly, maybe looking right at an intersection busy enough to warrant a traffic light.

I will be looking for this bumper sticker. #banrightonred
Today at Hornby & Helmcken Streets, the driver of this large truck was so intent on turning right on red that he rolled through and blocked the pedestrian crossing so the guy on the mobility scooter had to divert around him and the cyclist ahead had to pull up. #BanRightOnRed
