#PostOfficeScandal #HorizonInquiry #BarStandards #LegalEthics TEN GREEN BARRISTERS The Bar Standards Board has, for the first time, put a number on it: ten live investigations into barristers connected to the Post Office Horizon scandal. The figure did not arrive in a press release. It surfaced in the appendices to next week's Legal Services Board papers, and was confirmed only when the Law Society Gazette asked. The BSB expects matters to "progress to the Independent Decision-Making Body" this year. Five years after the first quashed convictions. Six years into the Inquiry. Twenty-five years after the prosecutions began. But this year. Definitely. The regulator's preferred euphemism for what the investigations may eventually find is zeal. It is not the word a member of the public might select to describe repeated representations to a court that an IT system was robust at a time when the prosecution's own technical witness had been told, on paper, that it was not. But zeal is the word the BSB has chosen, and zeal is the word we shall have. The duties at issue are the basic ones — candour to the court, disclosure, not misleading. They predate Horizon by a margin running into centuries. They appear in the Bar Code of Conduct in language no one of ordinary literacy could mistake. The BSB expects progress this year. This page will be counting down the days. T minus 249. https://t.co/2e3pX6Rpnu @CastletonLee @Janetsk20073533 @JohnHyde1982 @barstandards

TEN GREEN BARRISTERS
The Bar Standards Board has, for the first time, put a number on it: ten live investigations into barristers connected to the Post Office Horizon scandal.

@GouldsBlog @innermigration @BrianARogers62 Blimey - the barrister who admitted on oath a few days ago that he had not understood the importance of disclosure in a criminal trial for theft/false accounting. The one committing a basic statistical fallacy in his closing speech. That one? A leader in criminal work? Hmmm....?

18/ There’s a deeper issue within the Bar. Victims are being let down because some of the lawyers are perpetrators themselves. Until male abusers are weeded out, nothing will change. The culture must be addressed for justice to prevail. #MisogynyAtTheBar #BarStandards

⚠️WARNING #FamilyCourt: I repeat, NO FC lawyer wants your case to end! FC just can NOT work with registrants of: #Barstandards #CILEXLawyers & #SRAsolicitors opposing each other, it can't! *Eg. Get best friends to fight each other... It will NEVER happen!

@JuSummerhayes @charlie_psych Justice will only be seen to be done if the police & CPS consider criminal activity - with historical biasness & inadequate investigations the public would have no faith in #sra_solicitors #barstandards - they can wrap-up with professional misconduct cases after justice is done

Is it really Secret #FamilyCourt when #Cafcass #barstandards #FCAdvisors #socialworkers #srasolicitors overtly LIE, abuse their Power/Clients/LiPs, etc? Are they silently authorised to do it so Regulators & Law Firms can profit from complaints/complainants?

@BarristerSecret a good motto for #sra_solicitors #barstandards - when your members fuck up, get them to fess up - not coverup

After a shaky start to the BSB online exams, an independent group of barristers are providing an online forum on 27 August, chaired by @daniel_barnett of @outertemple, for #BPTC students to discuss the difficulties encountered. #BSBexams #barstandards https://t.co/IpHqbAr4Dq
