The impact of experiencing poverty as a baby can be lifelong. We’re joining with @SaveChildrenSCO in calling for Scotland’s political parties to do #BetterforBabies by committing to increasing Best Start Pregnancy and Baby Payment and Best Start Foods in their 2026 manifestos.

Every parent wants to give their baby the best start in life possible. But, heartbreakingly, over one in three families with a baby under one are living in poverty.

Important that progress towards the 2030 targets is across all 'priority groups' unacceptable that 35% of families with a baby under 1 in Scotland are experiencing poverty at a time of such critical development for a child.

Sadly, over 1 in 3 of those families with a new baby will be living in poverty today. This could adversely impact the baby throughout their life 💔
