In this week’s #CEEWExplains, researcher Aishwarya Jain unpacks why e-waste is more than just trash—it’s a growing source of the critical minerals India needs for batteries, EVs, and the clean energy transition.
In this week’s #CEEWExplains, researcher Ritika Sen takes us to Erode, where electric autos, trucks, and bullock carts share the same roads. The real challenge is designing systems that work for the people already moving our cities.

Bangalore has swung from a heatwave to intense rainfall within the same week, putting the spotlight back on how cities cope with both extremes.
In this week’s #CEEWExplains, we look at why urban wetlands matter at both ends of that swing—cooling neighbourhoods during heat and absorbing excess water during heavy rain.
As wetlands shrink, the impacts show up year-round: sudden downpours overwhelm drainage systems, and water shortages follow because that rain never made it back into the ground.
Researcher Ayushi Kashyap walks us through what has been lost, and what is being rebuilt.
This fashion trend? Absolutely bananas 🍌
On today's #CEEWExplains, Fiza Jha breaks down why biofibres might be your next closet staple.
Every AI prompt, UPI payment, or cloud backup ends up in the same place: a data centre.
In today’s #CEEWExplains, @vishaltrip unpacks how India’s data centre ecosystem is growing, and what it means for energy demand, water use, and climate resilience.
From concentrated urban hubs to smarter cooling and renewable power, the choices we make today will determine whether data centres strain cities or strengthen India’s digital infrastructure.

Planning for India’s future can’t stop at annual budgets. In today’s #CEEWExplains, Kunalika Gautam breaks down the five big shifts that will define the next 20 years: from a growing youth population and expanding cities to AI, climate action, and a shifting global order.
India@2047 will be shaped by the choices we make today. If you could design one policy for future India, what would it be? Comment below.
If “eat better” is on your New Year list, start by fixing the protein on your plate.
Indians are getting protein, but of poor quality: most of our protein comes from cereals like rice or wheat. #CEEWExplains how small changes in the Indian diet — a second katori of dal, more millets, an egg or a glass of milk — can boost nutrition and support healthier, more resilient food systems.
In today’s #CEEWExplains, we break down a climate start-up opportunity hiding in plain sight.
India is set to generate millions of tonnes of solar waste — and recycling it could unlock a INR 3,700-crore circular economy.
From recovering high-value materials like silver, copper, aluminium, and silicon to reducing import dependence, smart solar recycling can power both the energy transition and the next wave of Indian climate startups.
For entrepreneurs, investors, and builders, this is where climate action meets real market opportunity.
In today’s #CEEWExplains, we look beyond the buzz around Gen Z and green jobs. Because the real story is the green economy taking shape underneath. With USD 4.1 trillion in potential green investments by 2047, new markets — from renewables to circularity to bio-economy solutions — are creating the next wave of livelihoods.
A 0.08% GDP contribution could unlock USD 60 billion for Loss and Damage each year.
In today's #CEEWExplains, we break down why #COP30 must put vulnerability at the heart of climate finance to ensure real support for the world’s most exposed communities. Investing in resilience isn’t charity — it’s rational economics.
10 years since Paris — ambition’s everywhere, delivery’s not.
In #CEEWExplains, Mohana unpacks what’s working, what’s not, and how India’s driving South-led climate action.
As #COP30 nears, one truth stands out: trust is built on delivery.

In #CEEWExplains, we show how science is helping the city act before the smog hits — and what more needs to be done for cleaner, healthier air. 🌫️

#CEEWExplains | How does La Niña affect India’s climate?
An analysis of meteorological data over 35 years by researchers at @CEEWIndia has revealed that while La Niña winters feature colder nights compared to El Niño, daytime temperatures tend to be higher. Moreover, the wind speed is higher throughout the day during La Niña. According to US-based @NOAA, the likelihood of La Niña emerging between October and December this year is 71%.
In 2024, La Niña's emergence was delayed, and it only arrived in January 2025. While cities in southern India, like Bengaluru and Hyderabad, experienced a colder-than-usual #winter, northern India witnessed a delayed winter with above-normal temperatures.
Revisit this explainer by @mrafiuddin50, Shikhar Tiwari, and Rishikesh P on how La Niña and El Niño influence India's weather patterns 👇

As stubble burning season begins in Punjab and Delhi-NCR, it’s time to talk solutions, not smoke.
In #CEEWExplains, we show how Custom Hiring Centres are helping farmers manage crop residue without burning it — saving up to 90% in costs, creating rural jobs, and cutting pollution. With better tracking, capacity building, and machine-retirement plans, they can scale across India.

🚮 Ever wondered how Indore always tops the Swachh Sarvekshan rankings?
It’s not magic — it’s smart waste management ✅
By 2050, nearly 90 crore Indians will live in cities. The question is: will our waste systems be ready?
♻️ In #CEEWExplains, we share 3 simple steps to make your city cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable.

Construction dust is one of the most overlooked drivers of India’s urban air pollution, contributing up to 18% of PM10 emissions in Delhi-NCR.
Today on #CEEWExplains, Arvind Kumar delves into our behavioural science pilot in Gurugram, where small nudges—like entry-point reminders for drivers, repositioned signs, and voluntary commitments—helped:
✅ Raise compliance 4x
✅ Cut PM10 by 11%
✅ Reduce PM2.5 by 29%
Cleaner air doesn’t always need bans or disruptions. Sometimes, it just takes better design, behaviour, and shared responsibility.
What other nudges do you think could work at construction sites near your home?
This one vehicle runs every day.
On a fixed route. With high fuel bills—and high emissions.
What if it could be electric instead?
#CEEWExplains why these overlooked vehicles could be the real heroes of India’s clean mobility transition.
🏍️🚗 India’s vehicle ownership is set to double by 2050. But are our busy roads, with rising congestion and emissions, ready?
On #CEEWExplains we break down what’s driving the boom, where—and what we need to do next.
What’s one policy you’d introduce to fix urban mobility?
2 farmers, 2 states.
One shift that made their farming climate-resilient.
(And no—it wasn’t just seeds) 🌾
Watch the new #CEEWExplains to understand how we can scale climate-resilient agriculture in India.
