🇨🇦 #RCAF CC-150 Polaris 15004 took off from #CFBColdLake headed NW at 20:52z 2023-02-13 using call sign #HUSK99 (Husky 99), a #NORAD call sign, the same used for previous 🎈 intercept missions.
They returned ~02:20z 2023-02-14 this morning/last night to Cold Lake.

#BREAKING NORAD confirms @globalnews exclusive reporting that they have spotted another potential spy balloon. This time over Canada. The command says NORAD aircraft are in the area. “we have positively identified a high-altitude airborne object over Northern Canada”
The Canadian gov't knew about the approaching hostile foreign reconnaissance aircraft since at least January 29, and had time to redeploy a tanker to #CFBColdLake; I have a hard time believing they couldn't find a suitable weapon or location to shoot the balloon down in 5 days 🤔

🇨🇦 That normally means #RCAF CF-188 Hornets are travelling between Cold Lake and SoCal, where they vacation, I mean train, for a large segment of the year, because they don't like the weather in Cold Lake in the winter.

Thankfully, #RCAF tankers are usually involved with the commute between #CFBColdLake, #CFBBagotville, and their winter v̶a̶c̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ training spots down South, and sometimes stick around.
I'm getting ahead of myself, put a pin in that. 📌
However, even with three drop tanks, the trip from #CFBColdLake (or #CFBBagotville) for any of these exercises requires tanker support. Canada has 2 CC-150(T) Polaris, and 2 CC-130H(T) Hercules equipped for aerial refuelling.
