The CT General Assembly passed AAC State Voting Rights in Recognition of John R. Lewis (“CTVRA”) as part of the state budget. The bill now awaits a signature from Gov. Lamont.
Once signed into law, the CTVRA will be the most comprehensive state-level voting rights act.

UPDATE: The #CTVRA is a part of the House budget bill. It will now head back to the Senate for the vote that will mean final passage. This is a huge success and will be the strongest state VRA in the country. 🎉

More news: The #CTHouse has voted 139-12 to pass the budget, which includes the full text of the CTVRA! This means the #CTVRA is heading back to the CT Senate for the vote that will mean final passage. The Senate May take up the budget for debate as early as this morning.
