@LisaRowles @JaneLewis100 @KhulisaUK Been our pleasure working with you and great to showcase today! #CYPimpact
Stepping seriously out of my comfort zone, to talk to the CYP and public sector about an equity approach but found common ground in the aim of systemically addressing inequality and working WITH communities..@UKCF_tweets , @cypnow #CYPimpact
And secondly, @nick_axford “yes, it’s always about relationships, but it does depend on what we do in the context of that relationship. There are things we can do that are more effective”. #CYPimpact
Two v good reflections on relationships in work with children & young people today @cypnow #CYPimpact First, @perk_i “the relationship is the intervention, not a by-product”
#CYPImpact Lovely example by @KhulisaUK of how #evaluation was simplified and negative questions taken out, combining working with young people with using validated measures. Bravo!
“Most system-level challenges won’t be shifted by a new programme or service - even though this tends to be our first inclination” (and is often how activity is funded, I’d add) Wise, wise words from @perk_i #CYPimpact
Fear of failure stifles innovation. Unhelpful structures function to provide incentives to dismiss, or explain away disappointing results @cypnow #CYPimpact
There is a tendency in the sector to run away when things go wrong. Nick asking how can we promote a culture to learn from failure, and share this learning to benefit others? @nick_axford @cypnow #evaluation #CYPimpact
Really thought provoking presentation by @nick_axford on the importance of learning from evaluations that show negative #outomes #CYPimpact @cypnow
#CYPImpact @nick_axford Emphasising the importance of mixed methods #evaluation that includes proper #implementation analysis and mediating factors and that allows you to dig deep into the theory of change and see what’s supported in it and what isn’t and needs more work
#CYPImpact @nick_axford “Fail early, quickly and insignificantly” - and I’d add “cheaply”. Get the intervention really sharp before you invest big time
#CYPImpact @nick_axford Calling out the great response of @FNPNationalUnit @ailsa_swarbrick in leaning in to redesign FNP when early evaluation didn’t show (enough) positive #impact
Talking about designing evaluations WITH marginalised groups, and addressing the causes (rather than just the symptoms) of inequity.
Fozia Ifran CEO from Beds and Luton Community Foundation #CYPimpact #systemsthinking
#CYPImpact @irfan_fozia #equity #evaluation approaches privilege participation, power considerations and whether/how what’s being evaluated has impacted on equity
Enjoying listening to @irfan_fozia reminding us that universal doesn’t mean we reach everyone, and neutrality and equity are not the same thing. #cypimpact
#CYPImpact @mike_t_sanders Really good to hear the focus on #evidence for #improvement rather than simplistic ‘yes/no’ of ‘does it work?’ I’m often surprised at how little we see improving as the real purpose of #evidence #evaluation including at large scale #impsci
#CYPImpact @mike_t_sanders @whatworksCSC Of >100 trials done by @EducEndowFoundn almost none were innovations developed by yer actual teachers. How do we shift that so #practice drives #innovation and #evidence? This also highlights the importance of fab work of @shinetrustuk
Important message about evidence-based practice #CYPimpact
Make sure you catch @katetobin_ at the #CYPImpact today to learn more about #systemsthinking and #systemschange using #evidence, and all our upcoming #trainings in the new year!
#CYPimpact @katetobin_ from @DartingtonSDL on #systemchange What a poor system approach looks like and why we need a different approach #evidence
