Three years ago today, I was so excited when I got this shot off my deck. Then it all went to crap. #czulightningcomplex #SantaCruzMtns
Iβm working on a long thread about the #CZULightningComplex fires from three years ago.
I took a lot of footage then, and never told my story in a comprehensive way.
That was a difficult time for me personally, but it was much worse for many in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
In a time where society was so divided, our community came together like nothing Iβd ever seen before.
I donβt know if you guys will like it, itβs really long and will take some time to get through, but itβs a story I need to tell.
I did my best to make it compelling.
I hope you enjoy.
Why does GFS show California being hit by a hurricane next Monday 8/21-22?
Seems kind of wild & hard to imagine how to prepare for... how probable is this prediction despite it still being long-range?

This is a continuation of the trip starting at Big Basin HQ and ending at the Boulder Creek Golf Course. Many of the homes in these clips and nearby community did not survive the fires. #CZULightningComplex

Great article https://t.co/4nW2GH7xI1 by @SLVPostNews regarding the problems survivors of the #CZULightningComplex fire are facing. Hey @theSCLocal-- subscriber here: this would be a great subject for a series of articles. (https://t.co/hFBB7pUJ41)

Ended up in the field for two more weeks after the first week in the EOC. Doesn't seem like it was 2 yrs already.
@NWSBayArea Omg deja vu and not in a good way! The #CZUlightningcomplex was one of the worst experiences of mine and my families life. #CaWx #fires #cafires #fireseason π₯Ί
As you gear up to go #BacktoBigBasin on 7/22, watch "The CZU Lightning Complex Fire - Big Basin's story." This film reflects on the #CZULightningComplex that happened 2 years ago, and celebrates the community who came together to #ReimagineBigBasin: https://t.co/FrSDtQKeFC
Almost two years ago, the #CZUlightningcomplex tore through the #SantaCruz mountains and destroyed 97% of #BigBasinStatePark . My family was evacuated for three weeks and was one of the lucky ones. Now, #reimaginingbigbasin begins. https://t.co/G9BiZIUOYU

Itβs not as famous as Big Basin Redwoods State Park, its hallowed neighbor to the south, but Butano State Park, near Pescadero, was also hit by the devastating #CZULightningComplex last year, and Butano is bouncing back faster. https://t.co/ZRY1EPAP1U via @PaulRogersSJMN

Stayed in one with the newborn this weekend in the burn scar of the 2020 #CZULightningComplex, where a marine biologist had converted his former family home into a space to witness to regrowth of a redwood grove.
Head's up in the #CZULightningComplex zone... very intense rain rates/hr moving in via what @psuweatherman notes a narrow cold front rainband enhancement moving southward. Runoff rates likely increasing rapidly in the next hour #CAwx
CRZ-E003A (in Big Basin Redwoods State Park) that is shaded in red has been under an evacuation order since the #CZULightningComplex.
@CALFIRECZU @sccounty @zonehaven @NWSBayArea @SantaCruzPolice @SantaCruzSO1 @CAStateParksSC @FireSafeSCC @RedCrossNorCal What about that large area shaded in red? Isn't that an evacuation ORDER?
