Even if websites didn't crash, it's good to have state legislative deliberations on different platforms like #CalChannel, both for wider dissemination to more Californians, as well as redundancy and for distributed bandwidth.

Different system, in fact. Today's problem seems to be web streaming, not the actual transmitting of video signal from those Capitol cameras. CalChannel had the raw video transmission, then used it for its own web streaming system.

Totally agree @1KatieOrr And while legislative programming has also been made available for easy download so local public access channels can air if they choose, we must continue to work toward a statewide cable option in the absence of the #CalChannel
This is probably really inside-the-Capitol, but, man, I miss Cal Channel. @GavinNewsom is streaming his pressers on Twitter and Facebook, which is great. But it doesn't compare. Sad to see such a great public service disappear.

It was always a bad decision to pull the plug on #CalChannel, but it's even worse now, as the Legislature will need to figure out new ways on how to engage that public in this new world.
