I think the reality is that people go crazy when they DO believe in the God of Calvinism.

@danielaescox Having been a former #Calvinist I actually think it’s the theology. Some of the most prideful men (saved or unsaved) I’ve ever been around were a #Calvinistic tribe. And I was a college baseball player where pride abounded. 😎 It’s the theology and appeal to #scholasticism. Sad.

Former #Calvinist here. I formerly bit the cheese on #Calvinistic hermeneutics as well. Wasn’t until I actually began to translate myself that I could see that me and the other Reformed #theobros were interpreting improperly in many cases. And I still use the #Nasb. 😎

Augustine admitted he couldn’t understand the Bible until he read it through a Neoplatonist lens. In Confessions (Book 7), he says Greek philosophy helped him see Scripture’s “true meaning.” But was it the Spirit guiding him or man’s wisdom? His theology of sin, grace, and predestination became more Platonic than biblical. A mistake Western Christianity inherited.
