It’s health literacy. That’s the variable you’re looking for. But even the health literacy measures in the extant literature don’t account for the degree of knowledge some of us have acquired over the past few years that would put us well beyond someone with say an MPH degree. If one was REALLY paying attention to the knowledge 💣 dropped on Twitter/X from basic stuff like the various lessons learned from the history of infectious diseases, differences between acute response to Covid to persistent infection and filtration efficacy/NIOSH ratings, to more moderate-to-advanced stuff like the virus’s effects on T and M cells, and the way it commandeers your immune system, to the billions-trillions of virions produced, the way vaccines work & the size of airborne particulates and how long they linger in indoor spaces and the various moderating factors, so forth and so on… There’s just a new bar that’s been set for health literacy. It’s a new standard for survival borne out of survival from living with indifference, incompetence, denial, disgust and disease… everywhere we turn. Health literacy is typically measured by things like how well you can read a nutrition label or answer basic facts. Tech literacy (and health tech literacy) also plays a major role here.
