⚡️🇨🇳 China has switched on the world’s largest #CompressedAirEnergyStorage plant: 2,400 MWh capacity (600 MW output), enough to power 600,000 homes, per @business. It stores cheap night-time power by compressing air into underground salt caverns, then releases it during peak demand. Apex #CompressedAirEnergyStorage is developing a 15K MWh, 324MW facility in Texas that, once complete in 2022, will be the largest #EnergyStorage facility on earth. Air is pumped into a cavern, and then released through a turbine which spins a generator. https://t.co/Y2Xzx7VKWz
