@GenWamala: Business relies on reliable transport and so if we're going to be a business hub, then we should be able to have good infrastructure #ConnectingUG
@GenWamala: That's not the way we should be moving. We need people to move faster than that because people are very time-bound #ConnectingUG (2/2)
@GenWamala: Ugandans are also becoming very time cautious. People don't want to waste a lot of time in jams. Somebody made a study and said in Uganda we waste about 52 hours in a year. Every person wastes about 52 hours in a year in a traffic jam #ConnectingUG (1/2)
@GenWamala: If we develop and manage our expressways well we should be able to reduce on the cost of borrowing money to develop and maintain our network. That's possible #ConnectingUG
@GenWamala: So this is what is now demanded of us to develop a very, very reliable transport network within the country. And so expressways are going to be one of the ways to do that #ConnectingUG (3/3)
@GenWamala: That you come with water you should be able to hit a good road, if you come by air from the comfort of the air travel, you should not come on a bumpy road #ConnectingUG (2/3)
@GenWamala: So it's because of that, that the government through the @MoWT_Uganda and also using the approach of the integrated transport infrastructure system that we want to develop an integrated transport infrastructure #ConnectingUG (1/3)
@GenWamala: As you know, Uganda is a regional hub. We are centrally placed in the region. And so it is demanded of us to have very reliable infrastructure for transport and logistics movement within the region #ConnectingUG
@GenWamala: And then we are now in the final stages, I think Engineer Wani I can say this, of the Kampala- Jinja expressway. This has also been on the shelf for a long time and people have been wondering whether this will come, and it shall definitely come #ConnectingUG
@GenWamala: We are looking forward to having many more (expressways) developed as you have heard we were doing Busega-Mpigi, which is also moving but slowly #ConnectingUG
@GenWamala: So we must be good that we are going to share the experiences of South Korea, how they were able to develop the infrastructure, but also the expressways. They're very impressive, very, very impressive #ConnectingUG
@GenWamala: With assistance to develop the manuals, not only for designing, not only for maintenance, but also for system development. It will help us to deal with the problem as we move forward #ConnectingUG (2/2)
