@oldcanadaseries @angelpuss_x OMG. That store was my favorite. I bought a vanity in the early 80s and still have it. When things were still of quality. Back when we could still get nice things. No more. #consumersdistributing
@NHL94Podcast Yup, sure enough !
They folded in 1996 with pressure brought to bear from the likes of Walmart & Zellers.

These images come courtesy the 1982 Consumers Distributing TOYS supplement to local newspapers. (Specifically, the Saturday paper on November 13th, 1982)
It’s stamped on the back... I'm good with toy dates, but not THAT good!

At 9: Toy-Ventures looks at this total flashback, the 1983 Consumer's Distributing Toy Catalogue. This iconic Canadian chain had an impressive selection of the hottest toys like GI Joe, Strawbery Shortcake Star Wars. #toyventures

@mtlblog i'd re-open Consumers Distributing but would also make them pick-up centers for online shopping, not just their products but from Amazon, Wish, and many others, for a small fee of course. i think it would EXPLODE !!! 😃 #ConsumersDistributing
I had this very tape storage cabinet… I pretty sure that I bought them at #ConsumersDistributing. If I close my eyes I can visualize the lineup and holding the order form.
@ChiefManak @JanetBrown980 .... imho, it's time for retail operations to go back to the #ConsumersDistributing model; you pick it out of a catalog, pay for it, and an employee brings out out from a locked storage room for you.
@CPFOG Those catalogues were my jam as a kid. I loved looking through them. #nostalgia #consumersdistributing
@whisperin2void @brittlestar I think #ConsumersDistributing was so popular because it combined 🇨🇦’s loves of gambling (is it in stock?.. is it?….suspense.. hopefu.. NOPE! 🤫 it’s never in stock) and our black sense of self defeating humour. Plus the pencils. 🇨🇦❤️✏️s.(Remember the old Beer & Liquor Stores?)
@VintageMags I swear, I bought the walkman on this page! My good old Sony Sport...best one of its time!
Long live the days of shopping at #ConsumersDistributing
Picked up this awesome toy this weekend, it's amazing how a mundane store price sticker can push your nostalgia buttons. I don't even like this movie ;)

@brittlestar As a kid, nothing was better then taking your paper route money, filling out the little form and then watching for your treasure to come out on the conveyor belt. #consumersdistributing

‘Twas the night before Christmas, 1995, and you were stirring - feverishly staring at the #ConsumersDistributing Catalogue in hopes that item 716-282 on page 401 was in stock when “Santa” went to pick it up!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from OBLIVION!
