#ContractWithTexas members shifted the Texas House SIGNIFICANTLY to the right. These are the reformers we need! #txlege

@TheLufkinLawyer Thankful for your diligence and unrelenting passion in the field sir. It’s an honor to support our conservative members in their endeavors to move the needle and hold the line. #NOTaRINO #alamorepublicans #contractwithTexas
Newly sworn in (again) Rep. @Schoolcraft4TX sporting the #ContractWithTexas tumbler inside his office!

🚨BOMBSHELL BREAKING NEWS🚨
25 Republican Primary candidates run for office focusing on the need to reform the Texas House and release the #ContractWithTexas
Most of them win and they bring together a majority of the incoming Republicans who all agree that Reform of the Texas House is needed. They become known colloquially as the #TxReformCaucus
🚨🚨CANDIDATES FOR OFFICE MEET WITH CONSTITUENTS🚨🚨
In a truly controversial decision, breaking all precedent, candidates for office meet with potential constituents!!!
After the primary, 5 Declared candidates for Texas House Speaker meet with 48 of their potential constituents over lunch to discuss their vision for reform of #TxLege.
After deliberation and discussions, @DavidCookTexas is chosen as the candidate that they all will support when the full @TXGOPCaucus meets later in the year.
🚨🚨🚨SCANDAL OF EPIC PROPORTIONS🚨🚨🚨
In what must've been a shocking surprise to team #FailinPhelan these 48 members of the #TxReformCaucus who campaigned openly for weeks supporting @DavidCookTexas did what they said they were going to do and voted for @DavidCookTexas as the next speaker of the Texas House when the full Texas House Republican Caucus met on December 7.
HOW CAN OUR REPUBLIC SURVIVE WHEN CANDIDATES RUN FOR OFFICE WITH A CLEAR MESSAGE AND THEN DO EXACTLY WHAT THEY SAY THEY ARE GONG TO DO ONCE ELECTED?!?!?
The meeting that ALL Republicans weren’t invited to was the barbecue caucus earlier in November where the 48 picked Cook.
That is a piece of information that your post here leaves out. I’ll let people decide how they think that plays in, but that’s an important part of this discussion as well.
PS If I post under my real name, does that still make me a troll?

Rush said that you don't win by being a me-too lite version of your opponent. Clearly, Phelan and his team realize they are losing and now are offering reform lite. Why would any reform-minded member go with weak sauce that can't be believed, anyway? #txlege #ContractWithTexas

.@texasadvocacy has gotten each of the Big Three chiefs of staff together for a #txlege 89(R) panel today:
Gov-Robert Black
LG-Darrell Davila
Speaker-Mike Toomey
“All the things you remember about how the House works — throw it out,” Toomey said, talking about 89(R).
Reform is coming to the Texas House. #ContractWithTexas
Please see my statement below endorsing Rep. @DavidCookTexas for Speaker of the Texas House. #txlege

EXCLUSIVE: The current whip count has @DadePhelan at only 11 Republican votes for his re-election. Many of those 11 won’t even publicly admit their support at this time. #txlege

Rep. J.M. Lozano, one of our #ContractWithTexas signers, released the following statement on his Facebook page.
With his permission, I am posting below...
An open letter to the @TexasTribune
I'm Rep. J.M. Lozano. As you know, and you can ask the veterans at the Trib., I have traditionally been a quiet member and not publicly waded into things unless my constituents demand that I publicly step up on a specific issue. I had one forward me your recent article on the speaker race. The next speaker will not be Dade Phelan...I guarantee it. I have spoken to plenty of members, including a couple who attended his most recent meeting to tell you that he has no path to secure the Republican Caucus nomination.
With all due respect, as long as any media organization fails to ask the most basic fundamental questions, they will continue to appear to be trying to save the sinking S.S. Phelan and clearly not trustworthy.
1. Who has the most current votes in the Republican caucus? In other words, who is the closest to 53 Republican votes in our caucus? (I mean seriously, you have one (David Cook) who has 47 or 48 publicly supportive Republican members and one (Senor Phelan) who will not even release a list of anything near that. Why? Because only 8-10 of the phelan core are at least willing to take the public heat from their Republican constituents until the next primary. That is not a good base to build on. A base like that, whether in construction or in politics, will crumble with the slightest tremble, and for them, it will be an earthquake of epic proportions and they and everyone else knows it.)
2. Does Dade intend to defy the will of the Republican Caucus rules and go to the floor for a vote even if he does not (that's a given) win the Caucus nomination?
It is inconceivable that no reporter has asked him this basic question.(unless the trib is like others that have told me they are not getting calls returned..if yall have and heard crickets....it's because he absolutely intends to....it's not rocket science. In his mind, based on what his inner circle has told me, he will "roll with ALL of the D's and the remaining R's he needs to win 76".
In other words, his only path to victory is to do the opposite of what the Republican Party has been demanding, the opposite of what the House Republican Caucus and our rules we adopted say and SELFISHLY attempt to sacrifice even more Republican incumbents in the next primary election.
I guarantee you, they (a sufficient number of Republican members Dade needs) will not do that. Everyone saw what happened this past primary cycle. It is not worth throwing away all the sacrifice, time away from family, missed birthdays and little league hits, for someone blinded by power and God only knows what else, to the detriment of those around him.
Again, it's not rocket science. And every single media outlet that avoids the ultimate questions, is clearly an unreliable and bought and paid for liberal mouthpiece.
Tell your leadership at the Trib to step it up or at the very least to put a disclaimer "We did not ask the ultimate questions because it would make our donors preferred speaker candidate look weak and impotent."
Then, at the very least, you would be embracing honesty.
Once again, I guarantee you and everyone at the Trib that we will have a new speaker next session.
There will be peace next session. The House will work hand in hand with Gov Abbot, Lt Gov Patrick and the Texas Senate to deliver the results that the Texas majority demands. You know that and your editor knows that.
Please, help restore the people's faith in media (you have alot of work to do). It's really sad to see the Trib so one sided. Please quit trying to save a ship that pretty much sunk from the very same torpedo (impeachment attempt) fired by Dade.
We will not let him take anymore of our Republican House colleagues down with him. He needs to do the honorable thing. Man up. Evacuate the ship. And, courageously, go down with his failed leadership.
One more question...did Dade Phelan know that AG Paxtons kitchen was NEVER remodeled? Ask it...you won't..because it would go against your donors..but if you want to get to the crux of a major nationwide story before others when the time comes..ask it...because I'm confident he will be asked that very question under oath in the future....because it cost the taxpayers of Texas MILLIONS of dollars...and if he knew that it was not remodeled...that is exculpatory and it would have saved the people of Texas millions of dollars in his selfish, failed, misguided and bone headed impeachment attempt. I guess that's why he refuses to even release the total taxpayer house impeachment cost. He needs to reimburse the people of Texas.
This whole media coverage of the impeachment and since the impeachment is laughable. This is why nobody trusts the media anymore.
Buena Suerte amigos!
Sincerely
J.M. Lozano
The Texas House must be reformed, and we conservatives will defiantly stand against the cabal that surrenders power to democrats and fiercely defend those who advance the #ContractWithTexas. #NeverDade #txlege
State Representative David Cook Announces Support of 48 Republican Colleagues in Bid for Texas House Speakership

State Representative David Cook Announces Support of 48 Republican Colleagues in Bid for Texas House Speakership

The closer we get to the next Legislative Session, the more we realize that the #ContractWithTexas is the right path. We are winning hearts and minds toward reform in the TexasHouse. 2025 is when this will happen. I call on all Republicans Legislators to join us on this mission.
#txlege @DavidCookTexas is committed to getting us there.
On April 8, 2024, we unveiled the Contract With Texas, declaring to Republican voters and our colleagues in the Texas House: “We are committed to reforming it from a body of liberal dysfunction to a body that more faithfully serves Texas voters.” In the Contract, we identified twelve essential reforms that would earn our support for Speaker. Over the past five months, we’ve tirelessly championed these reforms across Texas, in our districts, and especially with the five candidates for Speaker.
The big winner from last Friday’s meeting of reform-minded House Members (and soon-to-be Members) was the Contract With Texas. David Cook is the candidate for Speaker who publicly committed to fully implement each of the twelve reforms outlined in the Contract With Texas and to decentralize the power of the Speaker. Enacting these structural changes will mark a significant victory for grassroots conservatives and lay the foundation for conservative victories in the upcoming legislative session and beyond.
Our expectation is that a Speaker Cook would ensure a fair legislative process—one where elected Representatives, not lobbyists or the Speaker, drive the agenda. We urge grassroots activists to stay vigilant, as we will, to make sure these reforms are faithfully enacted and that a Speaker Cook-led House delivers the legislative wins Texans expect.
We also want to extend our gratitude to Tom Oliverson, Shelby Slawson, James Frank, and John Smithee for their commitments to reform throughout this process.
