The #GreenCard wait times and the uncertainties it brings are very unsettling. The #CountryCaps on #EmploymentBased #EB green cards is antithetical to the Merit based system that Pres @realDonaldTrump, @elonmusk and @VivekGRamaswamy support, but opposed by extreme #MAGA. Country caps for family based #FB greencard can be understood and rightly so, to avoid chain migration. But EB greencards should be merit based and not the country of birth.

I'm one of the few members of Congress who has been on an H-1B visa back when processing times to transition to a green card weren’t nearly as bad—and it still took 17 years to become a citizen.
We must pass the Eagle Act for all those who have waited too long for a green card.

Indians tend to stay on H-1B visas longer than any other group due to brutal green card backlogs. According to a congressional report, if an Indian H-1B holder filed for a green card in 2020, it could take as long as 195 years to get their green card. 9/
