#WATCH | On increasing heart attacks in the winter season, Chairman & Head, Cardiology, Max hospitals, Dr Balbir Singh says, "So as such, the heart problem is increasing in our country. This is a known fact, and we have to accept it, we have to find solutions to it rather than shying away and saying it's a misnomer or somebody's creating this story. We can see more patients. We see younger patients. We're seeing, all kinds of, varieties of heart disease. Heart diseases are on the rise in our country. Yes, winter is a big stress, for the heart. The heart is one of the major organs which suffers during winter, and we know why it does so. We can already see a spike happening, in our hospital every day on average, we get about two heart attack (patients) who come. Last month, there were 40 total heart attack (patients) that we treated. In January, it's going to be even a little more than what 40 was. So we understand why it happens but the question is that everybody should know that it happens, and there are ways to go around it, and there are ways to prevent such a problem...We know how many, heart attacks we treated in May and June. It is almost double that number. So you can clearly see the trend is upward in winter. No age group which is now immune...This awareness that even young people can get it, even young need to take precautions that can help this country in a big way because we don't want youngsters to get heart attacks. They have so much work to do for the country and for themselves..."
Much needed in #India too along with doctors also shifting their focus from mere conversations and speeches to incorporating air pollution as a factor in their diagnoses and prescriptions!

Air pollution raises heart risks: Each 10 μg/m3 increase in PM2·5 concentration correlates with 1–2% higher chances of heart issues. Long term exposure escalates risk by 5–10%! @TheLancet
