"As we prepare to COP29, where the global community will intensify efforts to tackle climate change, it is important to recognize the deep connection between environmental sustainability, peace and security with a focus on legacy of armed conflicts. In Azerbaijan, we are actually aware of this connection. Azerbaijan stands committed to turning this challenge into an opportunity. We are actively engaged in comprehensive demining operations to clean up our lands. However, demining is only the first step. Our vision extends beyond the removal of mines to the full environmental restoration and sustainable development of the liberated territories. In alignment with the goals of COP29, we are dedicated to integrating climate resilience into our demining and reconstruction efforts. Our target is to create a green energy zone in the liberated territories. By restoring ecosystems and reintroducing sustainable practices, we aim to transform these lands into green zone." H.E.
