This morning @thetimes published my thoughts on the declining state of small and midcap UK equities, the bold steps that are being taken by @hmtreasury through its #EdinburghReforms, particularly its ongoing work to adopt the recommendations in Rachel Kent's UK Investment Research Review.
These reforms have the potential to significantly improve UK equities and, given the eight years of infrastructure we have developed that is squarely focussed on UK small and midcap markets, @research_tree is uniquely placed to be part of the solution.

This is an encouraging set of proposals from the FCA that recognise the way that founders approach issues of control - and how the current rules can act as a barrier to raising public equity. Further changes required as part of the #Edinburghreforms - but also the retail investing ecosystem.

We submitted evidence to the Treasury Select Committee to demonstrate that #EdinburghReforms represent a concerning direction for the finance industry. By weakening safeguards these changes increase the risk to citizens, consumers and financial stability. https://t.co/Dst5dTht2b
@curtisdude123 @implausibleblog In the US, where the financial crisis started, the right was in power. Both major UK parties supported the banking deregulation that created the problem in the first place and Hunt plans to do the same again right now. #EdinburghReforms
A shock like this should make mindless deregulation less appealing to politicians, and mindless risk-taking less appealing to bankers. @martinwolf_ #EdinburghReforms. https://t.co/L7M8fnCa92

How regulatory initiatives for the UK’s financial sector will affect consumer spending & the country’s economic performance more broadly is uncertain; but a ‘turbocharging’ of economic growth seems unlikely @EconObservatory on the #EdinburghReforms https://t.co/vZog81Ghn8
