I’m prepping my lessons now! I’m actually excited to teach about American history to preschoolers AND I’m hoping they’ll have a sense of patriotism after the lessons! 🇺🇸🗽
ACTUAL teaching is good, guys! 😉🍎📖🖤

"Ensure that the Bí Cineálta policy does not embed gender ideology" - an actual impossibility 🤪
This is written in the Safeguarding Statement of the kid's school
It's like saying "we teach maths but we never use numbers"
#BíCineálta

1. National Women’s Council (NWC)
•Input: Expert feminist policy documents. They provide guidelines for embedding gender equality, bodily autonomy, and anti-violence strategies directly into SPHE/RSE frameworks.
•Clout: Extremely High. As Ireland's largest women's representative body, the NWC aligns directly with the government's Third National Strategy on Domestic, Sexual, and Gender-Based Violence. Because the NCCA is mandated to fulfill these government strategies, the NWC’s recommendations carry immense legislative weight.
2. Belong To
•Input: First-hand data from LGBTQ+ youth focus groups, legal policy analysis, and actionable classroom toolkits.
•Clout: Very High. Belong To is the state's preferred civil society partner for youth-related LGBTQ+ educational policy. They are directly funded by the Department of Education, and their formal submissions heavily shaped the final text of both the updated Junior and Senior Cycle SPHE specifications.
3. INTO LGBT+ Teachers’ Group
•Input: Feedback focusing on the operational realities of teaching, school culture, and workplace safety for LGBTQ+ staff.
•Clout: High (Indirectly Maximum). While the subgroup itself is voluntary, it operates entirely within the Irish National Teachers' Organisation (INTO). Because the INTO holds a permanent, statutory seat on the NCCA main governing Council, this group has a direct pipeline to table amendments internally before broad public consultations even begin.
4. Transgender Equality Network Ireland (TENI)
•Input: Highly specialised guidance on gender diversity, pronoun usage, and supporting transitioning students in schools.
•Clout: Moderate to High. TENI provides the clinical and systemic definitions regarding gender identity that the NCCA relies on for curriculum accuracy. However, they face heavy pushback from conservative parental groups, making their political navigation more complex than broader youth groups.
5. LGBT Ireland
•Input: Large-scale research on LGBTQ+ family structures and mental health data to shape the primary school framework.
•Clout: Moderate. They act as a foundational research authority. While they do not have direct, daily access to NCCA drafting teams, their peer-reviewed studies are frequently cited within NCCA background papers to justify curriculum modernisation.
6. ShoutOut
•Input: Anecdotal and practical data gathered from delivering thousands of student anti-bullying workshops.
•Clout: Low to Moderate. ShoutOut operates primarily on the ground rather than at a legislative drafting level. Their input is highly valued during open roundtable discussions, but they lack the heavy administrative lobbying infrastructure of Belong To or the NWC.
7. Trans Equality Together Coalition
•Input: Unified, cross-sector legislative submissions representing over 30 separate human rights organisations.
•Clout: High. By combining multiple groups into a singular front, this coalition prevents the state from playing individual NGOs against one another. It forces the NCCA to treat gender-inclusivity demands as a broad civil-rights consensus rather than niche special interests.
Can you give us some examples of the 'age appropriate stories' you would tell our children @NCCAie ?
Some links below to some books parents were told would be in our children's classrooms through #BíCineálta
Please remember that @Education_Ire and @GovIE took advice on what is age-appropriate from a woman who told them that "comprehensive RSE" should start at age 3
See below

🚨🚨IRISH PARENTS 🚨🚨
Our CHILDREN ARE BEING INDOCTRINATED INTO A CULT.
@1Hildegarde as minister for education, it's on you.
@Education_Ire you're egregiously FAILING children & in breach of Children First Act 2015.
Child Protection is Everyone's Responsibility.
The Welfare of the Child is Paramount.

About three years ago, I submitted an FOI to the NCCA asking them to define the term “sexual identity”, which appears on page 32 of the Primary Curriculum Framework.
The NCCA initially implied/insisted that the term was covered under the Equal Status Act (it isn't). I went back and forth with them on this, and eventually they admitted that they do not have a definition for the term.
When I searched for definitions myself, I found several — some far more concerning than others, especially in the context of primary schools.
It was probably better for the NCCA to plead plausible ignorance about the meaning of the term than to have to explain that they may be using a definition that would tell 4–13-year-olds to explore things like their “social sexual expression”, which I recall was included in some of the definitions online.
@NCCAie @Education_Ire have you got a definition for this term yet, since you are obviously still using it?
Remove this book, Louder Than Words, asap @educateie #ShameOnYou #Misogyny #Safeguarding #EducateNotIndoctrinate #EducationIreland
This page of Louder Than Words (Junior Cycle English), which follows a 2-page spread by TENI on non-binary and pronoun use, asks students to write a speech to give at a school assembly. They are encouraged to write a speech about the school introducing gender neutral toilets.
Aside from the obvious question of why this is even in an English lesson, we should also be asking how it is considered appropriate to encourage students to adopt a stance and petition on an issue where the harms have not been risk assessed by the Dept.
I reiterate my call to have this book removed from circulation @educateie

I’m not in ET but I’m looking at this issue too and am about to get deeper into it because…...
🟢 The National (and EU) LGBTIQ+ Inclusion Strategy essentially promises that all new public buildings, including schools, are going to have these free-for-all toilets. We are finally getting a new school built after decades of local campaigning, and this is what we’ll end up with. Nobody campaigned for this and nobody was consulted.
🟢 Every school in the country last year ratified #BíCineálta / Cineátlas. Then @NormaFoleyTD1 as Minister for Children, published that strategy and committed our children to implementing it through the Bí Cineálta “anti-bullying” policy. Neither her department @DeptCDE nor the Department of Education @Education_Ire sought or received consent to use our children for any of this. They didn't even mention it to us!
🟢 It is clear within that strategy that we should not be surprised to see schools and other public buildings retrofitted with these gender-neutral facilities.
🟢 There has been, for over a year now, significant resistance across numerous schools to Bí Cineálta and all of its toxic outcomes. But the only thing being prioritised in it is the ideology, forcing children of all ages in schools to live by it and accept these degrading facilities as some kind of new normality.
🟢 The ethos document on the ET website is very telling in terms of what is being prioritised, including how schools are effectively instructed to override the constitutional rights of parents, particularly in matters relating to LGBTIQ+. But in truth, regardless of ethos, they are all at this now. In my case, it’s a Catholic rural National School.
@1Hildegarde
About a year ago I spoke at @NaturalWomensIE's conference about the ideological enforcement that #BíCineálta brings into every classroom in Ireland.
In light of your national conversation event today @Education_Ire and @1Hildegarde, I’ve decided to share a summary of calls I had with 6 parents just this week.⬇️⬇️
All of these parents (and many from the other weeks that have passed since that conference) have contacted you and your department directly about these issues, and there is no conversation going on with us.
These two things must be addressed by you and your department:
1️⃣ Please share any documents showing that school principals or Boards of Management have the authority to overrule, frustrate or limit parental opt outs- as is happening all over the country right now
2️⃣ Clarify who is responsible when things go wrong and a school has acted against a parental instruction.

Meantime, here in Canada, Middle East Studies @UBC - the county's third largest taxpayer-funded university - has been "reframing the narrative" about Hamas since Oct 17th. #shame #dobetter #educatenotindoctrinate

This courageous article in The Jewish Chronicle sheds light on the suffocating atmosphere at European universities, especially in Belgium. The author, who is based at Ghent University, describes how anyone who questions the dominant narrative about Israel faces isolation, professional risks, and social hostility. He writes about feeling completely alone at his own university, as colleagues privately express support but are too afraid to say anything publicly.
I once seriously considered studying in Ghent myself. But after seeing the reality there – and hearing from people I know who have experienced brutal silencing and even open hatred towards Israelis – I realized how hostile and even dangerous the environment has become. In Belgium, calling someone a “Zionist” is now a slur, thrown around by people who often have no idea what Zionism actually means.
What’s especially disturbing is that this intolerance is directed at people who, in many ways, share the same liberal values as their critics. Yet those values are tossed aside in favor of supporting radical Islamism – a deeply naive and self-destructive choice.
Belgium seems to be spiraling into a place where dissent is not tolerated, and this won’t end with Jews or Israel. The author’s bravery in speaking out, despite being so isolated, is truly admirable.
I am deeply grateful for his voice.
If you care about pluralism, academic freedom, and the future of Western democracy, I strongly recommend reading the full article. Breaking the spiral of silence starts with listening.
@mboudry

I’d be on board with it.
Also, it’ll show us if teachers are actually TEACHING and not brainwashing nor poisoning our youth.
#EducateNotIndoctrinate
I think this is an excellent idea.
Do you think it would be beneficial?

Following the mail in this tweet from Nov 27, @Education_Ire sent 16 paragraphs of blurb to me, despite my asking specific questions about how my parental instruction was totally disregarded in favour of a Bí Cineálta assembly.
Not only blurb—but blurb I’ve received before, blurb many parents have received before.
A parent being overruled in this way requires a lot more than blurb @1Hildegarde. That policy has to be revisited.
My response to that mail is here and the 16 paragraphs are below.
The latest in my #BíCineálta record.

🎯🎯 #EducateNotIndoctrinate @ICCLtweet Are you the Guardian of Gender Ideology in Ireland- peddling lies? #ShameOnYou
This is a bit ambiguous from your trans guide, @ICCLtweet.
It seems to imply that gender identity is protected in the ESA and in #BíCineálta. Gender identity is not one of the grounds in the ESA, as far as I can see. @RonanMullen
On the other hand, gender identity is not only protected by #BíCineálta — it is thoroughly and dogmatically enforced on schoolchildren of all ages.
The opt-out is an essential edit to that policy, and nobody has to play along with someone else’s notion of themselves.
@Education_Ire @1Hildegarde @CatholicBishops
The defence of trans ideology in schools automatically discriminates against, or bullies, children from families who believe in the biological binary.
@kenoflynnTD @Toibin1

@cavakaggyreborn I hope one brave young lady takes them to court.
I would happily support people who refuse to go to Cambridge. #EducateNotIndoctrinate
@NiohBerg 2/ At the same Canadian university, the Department of Middle East Studies has also promoted one narrative since Oct. 7th. In fact, 10 days after Oct. 7th, the department hosted an event on how to "reframe the narrative." @UBC #Fail #EducateNotIndoctrinate

Credit where it’s due to @edco_ie on their 3rd class maths book for classroom use, Maths & Me. Love the example about Lexi’s family. Couldn’t be clearer. We’re finally getting back to binary basics.
@Education_Ire and @HMcEntee need to remove @PrimEdIreland’s Mental Maths series from all schools. Ideological nonsense like pronouns has no place in primary schools.
See below for Prim Ed example
