The @TourismBoardUg was proud to join the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom in marking the 31st Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty Omukama Rukirabasaija Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I, a powerful celebration of heritage, unity and purpose.
The festivities kicked off with the #EmpangoRun2025, where hundreds gathered to run for a meaningful cause: raising funds for a cancer machine for Hoima Regional Referral Hospital. A run with purpose, spirit and heart. 🏃🏽♂️🏃🏾♀️
Our team also attended the Royal Prayers at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Hoima City, joining the people of Bunyoro-Kitara in spiritual preparation for the Empango celebrations.
We paid tribute at the Mparo Royal Tombs, a sacred site where great kings, Omukama Chwa II Kabalega and Sir Tito Winyi IV Gafabusa rest. This historical ground stands as a proof to the kingdom’s enduring legacy and cultural strength. Alongside this, Bunyoro is endowed in so much natural and heritage beauty that yearns to be explored.
We honor His Majesty’s 31 years of cultural stewardship and leadership, and we reaffirm our commitment to promoting and preserving Uganda’s diverse heritage through tourism.
