@at_bows @judyweb32049878 Not strictly speaking a "reintroduction". Grass of Parnassus (Parnassia palustris) has been present in the Lye Valley for centuries. All we've done is to sow some seed to help it spread a bit more...π

We planted some Common Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) by one of our ponds earlier in the year, and it's now in flower! Near Threatened on @BSBIbotany's #EnglandRedList, it's our contribution to @wildflower_hour's #ByTheWater.

We spotted these Grass-of-Parnassus (Parnassia palustris) rosettes in the fen last week. Rare in Oxon and Vulnerable on #EnglandRedList.
Over the last 2 years, we've been spreading seed (using this hi-tech small hole in plastic bag + water + seed technique). It works!
Planting Flea sedge (Carex pulicaris) seedlings, grown from seed collected in the south fen section of our #SSSI. Scarce in Oxon, it's Near Threatened on the #EnglandRedList.
In a nice twist, the first national record of this plant was also from the Lye Valley. In the 1660s. π
On #InternationalBiodiversityDay, a reminder of biodiversity here in the Valley: over 20 species of plant rare in Oxon, with 14 on the #EnglandRedList. Plus ten species of rare and 27 species of nationally scarce invertebrates, notably soldier flies and glow worms. π§

Just planted some Common Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) round our ponds. Sadly no longer as common as it was, it's on the #EnglandRedList as NT. We already have some on site, but would like more. We got the plants from Rivermead, in exchange for some Marsh Lousewort seeds. π
