$PLTR Alright Palantards, here is the deal. I have seen a lot of hype and momentum for our little Pili since we reported last week (and deservedly so.) However, let's temper expectations as we know this is a long journey. We are closer to the start of the journey than the end... I am going to try and simplify Palantir as it relates to their government/defense & intelligence side of the business. This is still extremely misunderstood and it is @PalantirTech moat. Everything that happens on the commercial side is because of the government/defense side. Without a further ado... WHAT IS JADC2?
JADC2 stands for Joint All Domain Command And Control. JADC2 is a concept for the DOD to be able to see the entire battlefield in a single glass pane. This is done by connecting sensors and live data and pushing it into a unified network powered by AI/ML. This past February @DepSecDef said “the minimum viable capability for JADC2 is real and ready now."
Below is the organizational chart of the DOD. To sum up JADC2 in an image, imagine everyone in this chart logging onto Foundry. Each person has different permissions but the facts and data are all the same. No one see's anything old and or different. Everyone is logged onto "JADC2" foundry link. So how did we get here?
JADC2 has been a vision of the DOD for nearly a decade. The ability for everyone to see the battlefield in real time in a single glass of pane of truth. The advantage is enormous.
Now this is where it gets a little confusing...
The DOD is made up of a a few different entities and fighting forces. For the simplicity of the post:
-The Army
-The Navy
-The Air Force
-The Space Force
Are the 4 fighting forces, each have their own contribution to the JADC2 concept:
-The Army = Project Convergence
-The Navy = Project Overmatch
-The Air Force = Advanced Battle Management System
-The Space Force = Combo of multiple system (will save this for another day)
What now? The warfighter now has a tactical nuclear software weapon, with all the tools and resources at their disposal, they can see the entirety of the battlefield. Everything from troop movement to ammo levels to bottles of water. From all domains, land/air/sea/cyber.
Why is this valuable? Commanders are able to make better decisions with all this data at their disposal. The OODA Loop (we will discuss this at another time in greater depth) fastens. OODA Loop = make faster decisions. If the armed forces can communicate and make decisions based on real time live data the end result will more likely be positive.
Example, you are a Commander in the Air Force watching The Taiwan Strait, you see out in the distance a Chinese aircraft carrier. What do you do? You see what assets are in the area, what potential maneuvers can be done and what their potential outcomes might be. The commander decides to send a drone to fly over the Strait towards ship. The ship turns around, thus preventing a potential invasion or start of a blockade. The commander calls the drone back.
Why is this special? Knowing what tools you have at your disposal to the exact T and Where the enemy is, is an advantage like no other. You can coordinate with your allies and superior officers to ensure that when the warfighter is going into an area of interest, he or she is equipped the most cutting edge technology to carry out the mission successfully without error. How big of an advantage is this? "Ask the Russian's" Dr. Karp.
This only works if the entire DOD works as 1 enterprise, synergy throughout. Everyone seeing the same glass pane.

Key fact about @PalantirTech tools that most people miss: Streaming is a first-class citizen.
In the enterprise space, I'm beginning to see "live" connections hydrating Data Lakes in some edge cases. Even more so, ETL tooling remains heavily batch-based, relegating streaming to a second-class role. For simulations and alerting tools, it's a niche market dominated by bespoke solutions tailored for specific enterprises.
To understand why this is the case, let's take a step back. Data Lakes and enterprise analytics traditionally focus on what happened. Even the most progressive organizations emphasize predictive analytics based on batch data for forecasting, occasionally incorporating real-time inference.
This real-time approach is deeply entrenched in our roots. In battle, real-time information is non-optional—it’s a necessity. The same principles can be applied to the enterprise space, transforming business operations into a real-time playbook for making optimal decisions in the moment, often at the edge should be non optional. We are here to raise peoples expectations of enterprise software.
It's not just about real-time streaming into a platform. It also involves transformation, contextualization with other data and systems, ontological modeling, real-time simulations, alerting, analysis, and much more. Achieving this in other environments often requires dozens of tools, complex infrastructure, security models, and becomes cost-prohibitive. This complexity leads most IT departments to settle for micro-batches, deeming it "good enough." or relegate it only SCADA system for engineering teams. A major value of streaming lies in shifting from retrospective reporting to a real-time business playbook. It enables you to make informed decisions at the moment, turn them into actionable steps, and continuously reassess the situation with real-time data.
This is the real-time enterprise OODA loop — Observe, Orient, Decide, Act.
Now, let's take this a step further. Imagine deploying AI agents or autonomous systems in your business, scaling up to hundreds or even thousands of them. If they are working off data that is hours or days old, or worse, if their actions aren't reflected back into the data for hours, you could quickly spiral into a series of unfortunate decisions.
The thesis is that real-time data will become a necessity to truly scale agentic AI in the enterprise space, and most companies haven't even started thinking about this.
