This is the deplorable state of the PHC in Wadata Kasuwa community in Wase LGA,the hometown of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Reps.
The centre has only 1 staff and was built by community members who were tired of dying due to lack of access to healthcare.

Lastly, staff's welfare condition in these PHCs were quite unpleasant as 12 out of the 25 PHCs we tracked had poor provisions for staff's welfare. #FixPHCs
Regarding basic necessities, 15 PHCs did not have electricity, 11 did not have water supply and 24 did not have ambulances or alternatives. #FixPHCs
We also observed that health workers in all the assessed facilities had to improvise as there was no medical equipment or consumables to treat patients properly. #FixPHCs
On infrastructure, 10 of the PHCs we assessed in Kaduna were in deplorable conditions. However, 80% of the PHCs we assessed in Kano had durable building infrastructure. #FixPHCs
Likewise, 18 PHCs did not have the required capacity to operate a 24-hour service. This means that these PHCs cannot prioritise emergencies. #FixPHCs
Of the 25 PHCs we assessed in Kano, Kaduna, Niger and Bauchi states, 13 did not have medical equipment, 15 had less than 6 medical personnel, and 24 did not have ambulances. This is mind-boggling!
