At a UN Security Council meeting on Mar 12, #FuCong @ChinaAmbUN, #China's ambassador to the UN, rejected accusations by U.S. ambassador Mike Waltz that #China and #Russia were “protecting #Iran.”
Fu stressed that the US, as the instigator of the Iran nuclear crisis, has violated international law and the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, which China strongly condemns.
🇨🇳China’s #UN envoy #FuCong addresses on #Iran’s #nuke:
“The #Iraniannuclearissue must ultimately return to the track of a political and diplomatic settlement. I want to emphasize that it was precisely the United States that unilaterally withdrew from #JCPoA, which triggered the Iranian nuclear crisis. It was also the United States that, in total disregard of its own credibility, on two occasions joined Israel and resorted to a blatant use of force against Iran during the negotiation process, which rendered the diplomatic efforts futile. The United States, as the instigator of the Iranian nuclear issue crisis, violates international law and the purposes and principles of the UN charter. China strongly opposes to such conduct.”

China's permanent representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, warned on Thursday that any military involvement by Japan in the Taiwan question would face a "head-on blow."
Fu made the remarks during the plenary meeting of the 2026 session of the Special Committee on the Charter of the United Nations and on the Strengthening of the Role of the United Nations.
Fu said that Japanese leaders in recent years have acted against the tide of history. Japan has explicitly linked the Taiwan question to a so-called "survival-threatening situation," responded speculatively based on the Japan-U.S. alliance, and attempted to use "self-defense" as a pretext to intervene in the Taiwan question.
"These erroneous arguments have no legal basis," Fu stated. "Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and how to resolve the Taiwan question is China's internal affair. No other countries have the right to interfere, let alone use force under the guise of so-called 'self-defense'."
Fu points out that such arguments betray Japan's obligation as a defeated country, violate the Cairo Declaration, the Potsdam Proclamation and the Japanese Instrument of Surrender, as well as the United Nations Charter's principles of respecting sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-interference in other countries' internal affairs.
"These claims pose a serious challenge to the post-war international order and should be met with vigilance and opposition from all peace-loving nations. If Japan, under any pretext, exercises the right of so-called 'collective self-defense' and intervenes in the Taiwan question, it will constitute aggression against China, and China will deal a head-on blow," Fu said.
On February 14, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during the Munich Security Conference that Japan had previously used the "situation of existential crisis" as a pretext to launch its invasion of China and the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor of the United States.
"If Japan gambles again, it will only face a swifter defeat and a more disastrous loss," Wang warned at the conference.
#RedSea Corridor Friction Surfaces at the #UN | At a #UN #SecurityCouncil meeting on #Yemen, the #US urged strict enforcement of inspection mechanisms for vessels bound to #Ansarallah-controlled ports — including ships departing from #Chinese ports.
China’s UN ambassador #FuCong pushed back, reiterating that China complies with #SecurityCouncil resolutions and maintains strict controls on military and dual-use exports.
Since #Ansarallah attacks disrupted commercial shipping, the #RedSea has shifted from a transit corridor to a monitored strategic zone. Vessel origins, cargo composition and compliance mechanisms are increasingly politicised.
Fu framed the #RedSea tensions as inseparable from #Gaza, arguing that only a genuine and lasting #ceasefire can break the cycle of escalation. He reaffirmed #China’s support for a political settlement in #Yemen grounded in #sovereignty, #dialogue and regional #selfdetermination.

#China cautions against "military adventurism" in the Middle East as US President #DonaldTrump ramps up military threats on #Iran, which has vowed to retaliate to any attack.
#FuCong, China’s ambassador to #UN:
"The use of force cannot solve problems. Any military adventurism will only push the region into an abyss of unpredictability. We call on all parties to abide by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, oppose interference in other countries' internal affairs, and reject the threat or use of force in international relations. China hopes that the United States and other relevant parties will heed the call of the international community and regional countries."
China's Ambassador to the United Nations #FuCong urged Japan's prime minister to retract her comments about #Taiwan being a potential military contingency for #Japan, and "refrain from continuing down the wrong path."
"At a time when the international community is jointly reflecting on history and planning for the future, it is outrageous that Japan's Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has gone against the trend by claiming that the so-called survival-threatening situation for Japan is linked to Taiwan of China, and by implying and threatening that Japan would militarily intervene in the Taiwan question," said Fu at the UN Security Council on December 15, 2025.
Last month, #Takaichi told the Japanese parliament that a "Taiwan contingency" could constitute a "survival-threatening situation" for Japan, and could prompt military action. She became the first postwar Japanese prime minister to issue a clear threat of force to China.
Her comments received immediate pushback and concern from Beijing and the international community.
"The lessons of World War II are still fresh," Fu said.
"Over the past 80 years, generation after generation has been working tirelessly for peace and speaking out for justice. As we stand at the starting point of the next 80 years, confronted with a world marked by transformation and turbulence, the questions before us are clear: Where is the world headed? Where is peace to be found?" Fu said.
"We must uphold fairness and justice and lay a solid foundation for lasting peace. Militarism and fascism once brought unprecedented catastrophes to humanity. Any erroneous remarks and acts to whitewash or overturn the history of aggression challenge the bottom line of human conscience and undermine the hard-won peace," Fu said.
"We must uphold a correct view of the history of World War II, safeguard the victorious outcomes of World War II, and defend the post-war international order. We must adhere to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, uphold the sovereign equality of all states, large and small, oppose unilateralism, hegemonism and power politics, advance the democratization of international relations, and enhance the representation and voice of developing countries in international affairs," Fu said.
Fu's comments came during an open debate in the Security Council on Leadership for Peace, during which former UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon pressed members to confront both the external crises facing the UN and internal constraints that have weakened its ability to act.
Also on December 15, China announced countermeasures against a former senior official of Japan's Self-Defense Forces for colluding with "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, and stressed that the Taiwan question is the red line that must not be crossed.
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the sanctions, which took effect immediately, include freezing movable and immovable properties and all other types of assets in China belonging to Shigeru #Iwasaki, former chief of the Joint Staff of Japan's Self-Defense Forces.

Achieving a lasting ceasefire in Gaza is a top priority. China welcomes the agreement on the first phase of the #Gaza #ceasefire. However, peace between #Palestine and #Israel is still far from being achieved, and the suffering of civilians continues, said #FuCong, China's permanent representative to the #UnitedNations, on Nov. 24, 2025.
China notes with concern that violent clashes persist despite the ceasefire. Israel has reportedly committed over 400 violations of the agreement, resulting in more than 300 civilian deaths in Gaza, he told the Security Council.
"A ceasefire means the complete cessation of all attacks, and should be observed by all parties in good faith. Any incident causing civilian casualties is unacceptable and repeated attacks must not become the new normal in Gaza," said Fu.
"#China urges all relevant parties, Israel in particular, to fully honor the ceasefire agreement and work toward a truly comprehensive and lasting peace," Fu added.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire, and humanitarian access continues to face multiple obstacles, he said. "China urges Israel to fully comply with its obligations under international humanitarian law, open all crossing points, lift restrictions on humanitarian access, and ensure that the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East and other humanitarian agencies can carry out their relief operations."
Any future arrangements on Gaza should be guided by the principle of Palestinians governing Palestine and respect the will of the #Palestinianpeople. The international community must redouble efforts to advance the two-state solution, oppose any unilateral actions that undermine its foundation, and support the early realization of independent Palestinian statehood and its full UN membership, said Fu.
China has consistently and firmly supported the just cause of the Palestinian people in restoring their legitimate national rights. China will continue to promote an early, comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Palestinian question, he said.

#Japan is in no position to demand to be a permanent member of the #UN Security Council, China’s permanent representative to the UN #FuCong made the statement at the UN General Assembly’s annual debate on Security Council reform on Tuesday.
He said Japan’s wartime aggression and recent remarks by Prime Minister #SanaeTakaichi on #Taiwan are extremely wrong and dangerous, constitute gross interference in China’s internal affairs, undermine the post-war international order, and make it clear that Japan is totally unqualified to seek a permanent seat.
#China's ambassador to the #UN, #FuCong @ChinaAmbUN, said Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi’s remarks undermine international justice and the post-war order. Fu Cong said a country that behaves this way is not qualified to seek a permanent seat on the Security Council.
Such a country is totally unqualified to seek a permanent seat on the Security Council.

🇨🇳#FuCong tells #UNSC on “snapback” of #sanctions on #Iran: “This is UNFAIR and UNREASONABLE. Such a move causes tension and division among Council members. It is not conducive to rebuilding mutual trust and bridging differences among the parties. It is detrimental to the diplomatic effort towards early resumption of talks and may even bring about catastrophic consequences that are impossible to foresee and forfeit years of diplomatic efforts in one stroke. China has grave concern over this.”
🇨🇳🇺🇳China’s envoy to the #UN #FuCong speaks after China vote in favor of the UN #SecurityCouncil’s draft resolution aimed to prevent “snapback” of sanctions on #Iran that were lifted under the 2015 #nucleardeal. The draft resolution proposed by #SouthKorea fails to be adopted with 4 votes in favour, 9 votes against, 2 abstentions.
The Security Council failed to pass the draft resolution on a ceasefire in #Gaza on September 18th.
Chinese Ambassador to the UN #FuCong @ChinaAmbUN said the #UnitedStates is abusing its veto power and urged Israel to halt its military operations immediately, and urged the United States and the international community to work together to achieve a ceasefire.
