I used earplugs in public for the first time ever last week, to protect myself from sensory overload. I'm 21 years old. My entire life, I've forced myself through sensory havoc, hurting my well-being, because I was never taught that accommodating my sensory needs is acceptable.
Have a conundrum with 8yo- to what extent do we say "suck it up" to the few things at #school he just can't tolerate? It can't be 'I don't want, therefore don't make me'. I dropped him off late feeling nauseous with anxiety this morning 😞
