I firmly believe in protecting the privacy rights and individual liberties of Kentuckians, and one of the bills that we voted on in Judiciary Committee yesterday provides an excellent opportunity to do just that. HB 45, an act relating to privacy protection, covers a lot of ground. It pertains to so-called “deep fakes”, unauthorized drone surveillance, automated license plate readers, involuntary tracking devices, and mandatory subcutaneous injections (human microchips). Yes, you read that right. Now I’ve been vocal in my opposition to the provisions relating to automated license plate readers, but only because the language regulates them instead of outlawing them altogether. However, I see great merit in this bill in that it disallows employers from mandating “subcutaneous injections”. I am in full agreement that employers shouldn’t have the ability to coerce an individual into having something injected in their body against their will, therefore I have filed an amendment to extend this protection to vaccine mandates. In 2022, the bill I filed to ban vaccine mandates passed in the House with a vote total of 71-22. At that time, private employers were amended out at the request of the majority of my colleagues. However, a new leaf seems to have turned given that the subcutaneous injection provisions of HB 45 do, in fact, apply to private employers. I look forward to working with my colleagues to better protect the privacy rights and personal freedoms of all Kentuckians. 🇺🇸
