More than 100 fighters from a Sudanese faction previously aligned with the UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have defected to the Sudanese army in North Darfur.
According to Sudan’s state news agency, 106 fighters, including 18 officers, from the faction led by Al-Tahir Hajar joined the army.
The defecting group, led by Mohammedain Ismail Abu Zera, arrived with weapons and military vehicles and is expected to take part in army operations along the western axis.
