To be clear, I'm not saying that because this day was a big bust for the SPC. Here's the verification. In contexts where it's understood, it can be a helpful too. But it has become too misunderstood to be useful to the public as a 15 second map in a 3 minute forecast #INChaserCon

And don't assume everyone around you understands how important that is. If you need more time, explain why. If you meet resistance, bring in a manager. But consider how often you sound the alarm. Not every severe weather threat reaches this level #INChaserCon
If you know something big is coming, it is your responsibility to help your audience prepare days in advance. We can't wait til the tornado is bearing down on their house to educate them about how to best stay safe from that kind of storm #INChaserCon
Don't assume (are we sensing a theme here?) everyone watching has seen every hit you've done in this show or tuned in for every show today. Talk to the people who haven't checked the weather in two days. Share safety info every chance you get #INChaserCon
Are you ready to tell your audience if they're not in their safe place this storm will hurt or hill them? That is NOT true of every storm, so don't act like it is. Study past storms, surround yourself with smart Mets who have good perspective, trust them and yourself #INChaserCon
Give action steps more often. Don't assume your audience comes to you with severe weather experience. In a top-tier weather event, people will be watching who have never watched a cut-in before. Repeatedly and frequently tell them what to do based on what you see #INChaserCon
It's a balance between tracking a storm (how many minutes away from these places) and radar analysis (what I see the storm doing). If you only ever give radar analysis, you're not helping your audience. Most people don't know what to do with that info #INChaserCon
In the greater Indiana region, several types of setups produce strong tornadoes. This occurs on an interval of roughly 2.3 years, under conditions with dew points ranging from 58-70° and 500mb wind speeds ranging from 50-90 knots! #INChaserCon #Indy #INwx
