The @jobqualityindex #JQInstant measure shows that due to improvement in the incomes offered in the subsectors typically associated with low wage/low hours jobs, many of those sectors have flipped above the mean. So today's JQInstant read is a low 32.82%:
We'll be out with our @jobqualityindex #JQInstant read in a bit, but my guess is that it will show that we gained overwhelmingly in the restoration of low paying positions we can see that in the decline in weekly hours (1/10th) and the cresting of weekly income growth.
#BLS reporting May Non-farm Payrolls increasing by 559,000 and the U-3 unemployment rate falling to 5.8%.

Interesting: the @jobqualityindex's #JQInstant reading comes in at 46.79 - indicating that fewer than half the jobs added in April were in low quality job sectors - despite the huge reliance on leisure and hospitality:

Now we go look under the hood and see what happened on a sectoral basis.

And the @jobqualityindex JQInstant flash is now out, showing that only 34.72% of the private sector jobs created in March were in low-wage/low hours sectors. This is a fabulous reading:

With the above taken into consideration, even the disappointing level of job growth in today's report is, on average, composed of jobs now paying less than the elevated mean weekly income (result of the elimination of so many low paying jobs). Today's #JQInstant tells this story:
Non-farm Payrolls rise by 661,000 in September (the survey date last month was the 16th). U-3 Unemployment comes in at 7.9% But the private sector came in at +877,000 as 216,000 government jobs were eliminated.

And now we have this morning's #JQInstant read for June showing that 86.72% of the payrolls "added back" in June were in the low-wage/low-hours sectors of the economy.
The #JQInstant graph for March 2020 is below. 93.35% of the job losses were in sectors that offer weekly incomes below the average income of all production and non-supervisory jobs.

For November 2019, the JQ-Instant shows a reading of 47.76, down from a spike of 83.31 in October. Likely that the October/November fluctuation is attendant to the GM workers leaving and re-entering.
