#FreeBSD loader.kboot (kexec for #linuxboot) has landed. Arm64 works. Everything else is WIP and likely doesn't.
Got #freebsd #Linuxboot working with aarch64, including guessing the root properly. With luck, the boot loader will be in this week, and the one kernel fix the following with...

Spent some time refactoring #FreeBSD's loader for the #linuxboot kboot variant. I deleted 5 redundant copies of a routine so I wouldn't have to make a 6th :)
#FreeBSD #linuxboot update: I can boot to mountroot> on real hardware. But the GIC ITS issue means no interrupts for me. And I need to pass in the real UEFI memory map to FreeBSD (not my fake one). But while I know it's PA, the env I have has no /dev/mem to read it...
Come discover our development journey of adding #FreeBSD support to #LinuxBoot by extending previous work to support running UEFI executables (the Windows EFI loader) directly. Where? At the #ArmDevSummit!

#FreeBSD #LinuxBoot I was able to use my as-yet-uncommitted changes to FreeBSD's loader.kboot to kexec a FreeBSD kernel from a Linux kernel to mountroot> prompt using qemu-system-aarch64 and my own initrd that has loader.kboot as init(8)....

Now the framebuffer setup needs some fixing with offset or whatever. Anyway, this is #Doom, running on the @mangopi_sbc MQ-Pro (Allwinner D1) #RISCV platform, from #oreboot + #RustSBI + #LinuxBoot, over `cpu`.
cpu mangopi ./doom -file DOOM.WAD 👩💻
With #LinuxBoot, we have a common #Linux environment offering all the usual commands such as cat, ls, etc, plus boot loaders that can boot into the final OS - e.g., another Linux system. 🐧
Here is the @SipeedIO Lichee RV showing it all up to u-root. 🥳

I am happy to announce #Fiedka v1.3.3 🥳
Now with a nice welcome screen, toolbar and #UEFI editing capabilities. You can remove DXEs, and if space allows, replace BdsDxe with your own app to roll out @LinuxBootOrg via the #LinuxBoot button.
Download: https://t.co/4dTcNv1iBO 🐙
It worketh! \o/
Load a #UEFI image into #Fiedka, remove unnecessary DXEs, click the #LinuxBoot button to select a LinuxBoot kernel image, and then Save - result: A new #firmware image with @LinuxBootOrg 🥳🐙
Same as with utk CLI; see the screenshot for result comparison. :-)
We have the @LinuxBootOrg #documentation, the #LinuxBoot book 📚, on its own subdomain now for better visibility:

Did you know? It has a full chapter on the cpu command!
Some pages need polishing, and there is more to come - feedback is very welcome! ✨
