During #MSBuild this week @SatyaNadella picks couple of new terms to explains how @Microsoft is thinking about GTM for their AI efforts, terms like ‘clean lineage’, ‘cognitive core’, and ‘hill climb’ wrt to AI in enterprise use cases. He pushed the PC agenda and local AI for the big potion of the keynote. But in a podcast after the keynote tone was more pro Cloud (including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS).
My POV, Cloud consumption is risk averse approach in AI experimentation phase for most enterprises and in perpetuity for few others. Satya contradicted his own premise by mentioning Work IQ when he said people are not buying servers, they are buying services on the podcast this week, the same week as MS Build. The number of people who will buy servers in Cloud is 10x, 100x he said in the same Podcast talking to @saranormous
and Elad Gil.
If there is one tag line for this developer conference (MS Build), that is “can everybody operate at the frontier with their frontier intelligence’, said Satya.
All in all, he raised the most important concerns of most CIOs but no clear direction to address those. BTW, I don’t blame him, no vendor has totally clear answers, though some have better answers than others. More on this later…
