📌Tumor #heterogeneity and #genetic diversity in solid #cancers might be the cause of #treatment failure. Knowledge of inter-tumor and intra-tumor heterogeneity by assessing a broader set of #genes may lead to an increased understanding of the tumor response to treatment.
📌More gene sequencing translates to more pathways being assessed is the way forward in cancer management and limited or targeted panels cannot match the utility when it comes to deciphering tumor heterogeneity.

One challenge for #precisionmedicine is rare #genomic alterations, to tackle this, #multigene sequencing based on full coding sequence analysis allows one to discover new ones. For example, the SAFIR02-BREAST study, conducted by @FAndreMD and colleagues identified 21 gene amplifications or deletions associated with #metastatic evolution, poor prognosis, and drug resistance or sensitivity by implementing comprehensive genomic profiling (#CGP).
Genomic profiling can also provide information on the #genetic determinants of immune suppression—for example, amplifications of the PD-L1 #gene (CD274) that may be targeted with immune checkpoint inhibitors, and on the mechanisms of #clonalevolutions that underlie the emergence of secondary resistance to treatment.
