Seems NICK GREAD is no stranger to BONUS controversies.
During his relatively brief tenure as CEO at the Mutual NISA (Feb 15 to Oct 17) he and his Executive team were accused of scaremongering when it had held back Member rebates.
They claimed Management was motivated by triggering Bonuses rather than keeping the business afloat.
At the time, £2.2m of Bonuses were shared out amongst NISA Management.
Of this Bonus pool £292,000 went to CEO Nick Read.
In his first 13 Months (2015/2016) at NISA he received a basic Salary of £335,OOO and a further £417,000 in Bonuses and other Benefits.
In f/y 2016/2017 he added a further £300k of Salary plus another £219,000 in Bonuses and other benefits.
These bonuses would hang like a millstone around Read’s neck until his departure in October 2017 and were constantly harked back to as the jumping off point for all the anti-management sentiment expressed by Members.
