Only madmen and loners can afford to be themselves. Loners have no one to please, and madmen don't give a damn whether they please or not. #nonconformism

“Be the shepherd, not the sheep.”

When I was six, I met a WW1 veteran who didn't want to tell me any macho war stories. He just wanted me to understand that the Germans weren't bad people.
I asked why kill them then.
"Because we were told to."
That old soldier's words have always stayed with me.
