Why is the USA still on the steering committee & not under review?
Should countries that refuse to uphold values, adopt illiberal policies, engage in authoritarian acts, & overt corruption be allowed to remain in governance of organizations explicitly focused on fighting those plagues?
OGP is dead in the USA: the GSA is deceiving the American people about an active plan, the advisory committee is gone, the secretariat is disbanded, & the White House makes a mockery of core values daily. Will the steering committee keep kicking the can, or finally, publicly acknowledge the concerns of US civil society & grapple with what it means for the legitimacy of the US government to make a mockery of membership?

At the just concluded #OGPSummit in Spain, Connected Development’s (@connected_dev) Director of Programs and Community Engagement, Uchenna Kingsley Agu, MPA supported by Oxfam in Nigeria (@oxfaminnigeria) attended various side events, engaging key international partners and stakeholders on how the organization is driving early civic education and enlightening communities in Nigeria on different functions of government and how to ensure they are delivered on👌
Through the #PowerOfVoices project supported by Oxfam in Nigeria (@oxfaminnigeria), Connected Development (@Connected_dev) is leading early civic education in 19 public secondary schools in 6 States, engaging them through a civic manual developed to educate them on active citizenship, the role of government and our collective role in nation building.
His engagement at the summit also highlighted our impactful work on Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) under the same project, stating how the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA 2021) is expected to use community governance structures to provide developmental services to oil-rich communities in Nigeria especially those whose environment and livelihood has been destroyed due to crude oil mining activities in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria (1/2)
