Today's March 6th of 2025! Four years ago (03/06/2021) today, The Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, finally did something after 965 episodes (22 & a half years) of the One Piece Anime.
The Legendary Clash between Whitebeard & Roger was adapted (most of it...) during #OnePiece965, under the care of our One Piece veteran & action specialist animator, Katsumi Ishizuka (who's currently just storyboarding and correcting), who delivered key animation & storyboarded his own sequences (that's why everything looks completely different from the rest of the episode ; there's levels to this shit).
The low-diff between Roger and Oden was also adapted during this episode & it was under the hands of Veteran Animator, Tetsuro Niregi, who didn't deliver a huge cut like Ishizuka, but his sequences were great looking regardless.
The episode overall was adapting content that not many people gave too much of an F about, cause i don't believe that someone actually cares about Orochi's flashback (all of Part A), Part B is superior in every way.
Unfortunately, the episode had Freelancer Director, Kenichi Takeshita, who's not a fan favorite whatsoever, so most of the episode was somewhat dry, same with veteran Animation Director, Kazuya Hisada, who had better days during that timeline.
The episode ended with one of the most horrendous cliffhangers, but at least, #OnePiece966 (who was released two weeks later...) was way better looking and the rest of the clash was also well animated.
Talk about night and day (Part A vs Part B)

Today's March the 5th! Fourteen (14) years ago (03/05/2011), Akagami no Shanks stopped the Marineford War during episode #OnePiece489 of the One Piece Anime.
Looking back, you would think that such an important moment in the series would receive a lot of love from the staff, but it looked like our "regular" One Piece episode of the Pre Time Skip with just some cool corrections from the Animation Director of that episode (Atsuko Kawamura).
Obviously, the episode was still good, because Oda's pen was on fire during this particular moment. The episode was directed by the infamous "legend", Yutaka Nakashima, who was somewhat on his "prime" back then (?)
A lot of individuals love to gas up the Pre Time Skip Anime & that's okay, because the episode rhythm was way friendly back then, but the quality of the episodes were very inferior to what we got nowadays & the fact that people outrageously compare (still) Marineford's Anime Quality to WCI, Wano & Egghead is delusional behavior.
Like, just look how much love Shanks got during #OnePiece1112: https://t.co/SEyW7QDjTQ
Episode 489 doesn't even have a character acting moment.
Anyway... 14 years ago, wow! It makes you think a lot about life, you know? God bless Oda, dude. Man's has been around for a long time.
