The 8th Assembly under Dr. Bukola Saraki set a bold precedent with #OpenNASS where the budget of the National Assembly was fully itemised and published publicly for public scrutiny.
The 8th Senate led by PDP's own Dr. Saraki slashed the National Assembly’s allocation from the ₦150 billion annual benchmark to ₦115 billion in 2015/2016, the same budget crept back to ₦139.5 billion after Dr. Saraki became the chief defender of the Nigerian People.
If you had accused someone else of financial malfeasance, it would have been understandable. But not someone like Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki - the star of the PDP.

Bukola Saraki made him become extremely rich. They were sharing the Senate Budget. During their time, a Senator would just receive an alert of 200m just like that every now and then !! At the expense of the economy!
Dino used most of his shares to acquire buildings in and out of Nigeria, to acquire cars that he does not drive, to acquire cutleries and furniture and wrist watches, shoes and designer wears.
The other time during their so called INEC protests, Dino rocked £1,420 t-shirt 👕.

The 8th Assembly under Bukola Saraki set a precedent by introducing the #OpenNASS initiative, and the budget was fully itemised and published for everyone to see and scrutinise.
He also came in and reduced the National Assembly budget from the ₦150 billion benchmark it had maintained for years down to about ₦115 billion.
For context, look at the numbers:
• Pre-2015: ₦150 billion annually
• 2015–2016 (start of 8th Assembly): ₦115 billion
• 2018 (8th Assembly): ₦139.5 billion
• 2025: ₦577.85 billion
Your tweet should have centred around why the cost of governance has ballooned and transparency receded.

not surprised there were contradictory versions of the tax laws. for months i looked for the bill/law but no one seemed to have it, like laws are official secrets. under saraki’s #opennass initiative: we could easily download laws online, there was transparency in that regard.

A system that resists accountability will always find ways to silence dissent. In 2013, we took #OurNASS to the National Assembly. Today, with #JusticeForNatasha, we see why #OpenNASS is still urgent. Transparency isn’t a favor—it’s a right!

@EiENigeria & @BudgITng have advocated the abolishment of voice-voting for over a decade via #OpenNASS.
This is why @nassnigeria refuses to do it.🤨
