What's the govt trying to hide while making @SetuAarogya mandatory for all? If almost every other country that has introduced a contact-tracing app -- the likes of Singapore, Iceland and Germany, using #opensource, why can't India?

Any app developed by the government without any legislation backing "must must" have free and open-source software(FOSS) feature esp. in a world which has now come to be almost ever dependent on tech.#OpenSourceArogyaSetu
Prohibit making @SetuAarogya mandatory for download. It’s tracking every detail #OpenSourceArogyaSetu

Their transparency is so low that when IFF asked them for an "exhaustive list" of officials who will have access to the data, @NICMeity replied: "officials who are involved in Covid-19 related efforts". You kidding? #OpenSourceArogyaSetu
We have received a reply from the @NICMeity on our previous RTI application requesting information on the @SetuAarogya application. In it, they have failed to adequately respond to the queries in the request and have only provided us with evasive responses.

#AarogyaSetuApp
I have never in my dreams thought there will be a twitter trend demanding source code of a govt application. #OpenSourceAarogyaSetu
I see a lot of buzz around #OpenSourceArogyaSetu but what I don't understand is how the app is a privacy threat when it's doing the stuff it's meant to do. It is built for tracking and it's doing its job 🥴, as for accessing the database it can be fixed.
Every software have bugs.
#OpenSourceArogyaSetu If it has to be mandatory, should not State supply smart phones to all citizens with data connectivity and power banks since keeping bluetooth on drains battery. @sumanthraman
@fs0c131y Ok, what is the guarantee that whatever is opensourced will indeed be going into the App Stores? Can't an authoritarian regime opensource one version of code but use a modified version of that to build binaries that go into App Stores? #OpenSourceArogyaSetu #OpenSourceAarogyaSetu
@truly_rizwan We demand #OpenSourceArogyaSetu
Privacy advocates have cautioned that apps to help track the spread of Covid-19 could result in a dangerous mix of health data and digital surveillance. India's new contact-tracing app may serve as a lesson in those privacy pitfalls. https://t.co/pZyj6cZUEx
