Just got some great insights into the 2nd stanza of מזמור קיט Psalms 119:9-16. Very happy with this introduction. Very eager to dive into each verse. #Ps119
As I said, #Ps119 unfolds in octets, & each verse in each octet begins w the same letter. With verse 9 begins the octet of ב Bet, the 2nd letter of the Aleph-Bet. 7 of its verses begin w words to which Bet is affixed as a preposition - not words w Bet as their 1st letter...
The first 4 verses of #Ps119 are declarations about reality, evaluations of behavior patterns. The next 4 verses shift from declaration toward prayer, to a vision of being a person who fully realizes the depth & blessing of the mitzvot.
#Ps119 calls us in by opening with three more & more inclusive conditions. And chiastically, if you fulfill the 1st or 3rd conditions, you're walking... and if you fulfill the middle condition, you're seeking... We'll have to see if that's part of a larger pattern.
Zooming out, we see the first three verses of #Ps119 form a unit, an introduction that calls in people who may feel they're not walking the walk & shlepping along in mediocrity:
#Ps119 opens with a message: Maybe you think you're not not a part of Torah & not walking a good path. Think again.
"Walking in His ways" isn't reducible to specific actions or their sum or their average. It's about your orientation. #Ps119
