It is concerning that Democrats do not seem to comprehend the negative implications of laws they create—unless they are pretending not to know. It is simple: Currently in Washington State, a 13-year-old can receive medical treatment from the state government or their public school without parental notification. State government agencies and public school districts are actively adopting policies to take it a step further to intentionally hide information from parents. Under state law, insurance companies are also subject to sending parents a medical bill that does not have to list procedures or services administered to their child. These laws attack parental rights and can lead to life-altering consequences for children and families. I-2081 supports parental notification. More than anyone, parents have the right to know what is happening with their children. Washington Democrats believe the government can do a better job raising kids than parents can. It cannot.
